Digital experience transformation through advanced website development

Cannon Safe

About the company

Cannon Safe is one of the nation’s leading safe manufacturers and distributors. Cannon designs and builds a wide range of residential security solutions ranging from fire safes, personal safes, to firearm safes, and more. With the goal of placing a safe in every home, Cannon sells its products primarily through nationwide retailers such as Costco, Tractor Supply, Lowe’s and other major retailers.

The challenge

Cannon came to us with a website that focussed little on the user experience and had limited capabilities to help its end-customers understand their product lines, product features, and product availability. We started with the user and conceptualized a wide range of features and functionality that as a potential customer we would want to be able to access and interact with on a website. Since Cannon does not currently offer E-commerce, we wanted to integrate tools and data to help facilitate increased product knowledge and showcase the live inventory of retailers close to a customer, ultimately leading to increased in-store sales.

The process

01

Understanding the Cannon brand, the Cannon consumer, and the goals of the business with designing and developing a new website.

02

Outlining requirements from several departments within the company including marketing, IT, and customer service.

03

Digital rebranding including the creation of a new logo, color scheme, and design system.

04

Wireframing, designing, and gathering feedback from stakeholders on design drafts and mockups.

05

Front-end and back-end development of the website including the implementation of a headless content management system.

06

Deployment, and testing of both the front-end web application and the back-end CMS.

The solution

Our solution was a custom designed and highly scalable and dynamic web application with extensive functionality built for the consumer. With improved self-service customer service flows, third party integrations for live retailer inventory, we engineered a custom software solution that set a new bar for an online brand experience. Our designs focussed on increased product awareness and shopping tools to drive consumer decision making and product segmentation, closely aligned with brand direction and marketing objectives.

Our impact

The new Cannon website was launched in early 2022, aligning with one of the brands largest trade shows across the secure storage industry. In addition to re-establishing their digital presence, Cannon’s new website facilitates a far superior user experience for their end-customers whether they are looking to troubleshoot minor DIY issues through the extensive FAQ section, or research the next cannon safe that they want to purchase. With the user experience and scalability at top of mind with this project, we saw an increase in both website performance and session time among other key analytics. After the completion of the Cannon safe website, Asymm started the development of two other brand projects for Cannon Security Products.
